Chess REALLY is for Life!

On October 13th, two students from the Gilbert Paterson Chess Club ran by our very own Miss. Trzaska (PS3 Student), made impressive strides in a regional chess competition, placing among the top contenders. Grayson Lister earned 5th place after showcasing consistent skill and determination throughout the tournament. Will Swen’s outstanding performance secured him 3rd place overall, with six rounds of intense play followed by two overtime rounds. Will’s dedication earned him one of the coveted prizes, with help from our mentor, Lance Grigg, from the University of Lethbridge, who has been an invaluable guide to our Chess Club.

We couldn’t be more pleased with the results of this competition. It’s a testament to the hard work, critical thinking, and resilience our students demonstrate both on and off the chessboard. We look forward to watching the club grow and hope to see more Chess Club students participate in future events, where they can continue to develop their skills and enjoy the camaraderie that comes with being part of this dynamic team.
